Bears Impressive In Big Win Over Broadmoor
Class 5A’s #2 ranked Bears rolled to a 48-6 win over the Broadmoor Bucs. The Bears blitzed the homestanding Bucs for 34 points in the first quarter and emptied the bench in the remaining three quarters. CHS is now 7-0 and 2-0 in 5-5A play, while Broadmoor fell to 2-5 and 0-2.
Zach Crawford threw three touchdown passes, one apiece to Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Vernon Langley and Chris Cameron. Edwards-Helaire also rushed for two scores in the first period. Beau Griffon ran for a score in the second quarter and backup quarterback Cameron Dartez hit paydirt on a quarterback sneak in the final period.
CHS cornerback Kam Cummings had an interception and defensive end Elijah Reames caused a fumble and recovered it to lead the defense. Tre Square tackled the Broadmoor punter at the one that led to an offensive touchdown on the next play. Parker Fontenot converted five extra points and Preston Stafford converted an extra point. Stafford kicked four touchbacks and Matthew Goodson also had a touchback.
