Big Orange Wave Kicks Off 2017 Season
The Big Orange Wave will debut at Highland Road Park on Saturday, September 2, as another cross country season begins under longtime coach Pete Boudreaux. The Wave will compete in the Bayou Boogie, the longtime season opening meet in the Baton Rouge area, hosted by St. Michael. The first race scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m.
The Wave enters the 2017 season as THE most successful program in Louisana cross country history, capturing 16 state titles and 10 state runner-up efforts. The program also has an unprecedented 27 district/metro titles in its history.
At last Saturday’s scrimmage against Episcopal, St. Michael, and Runnels, the Wave got experience on a dry and fast Highland Road Park course. James Lalonde paced all CHS runners with a solid time of 16:13. Collin Hedges (16:43); Chris Cuntz (16:50); Ben Langley (16:52); and Brian Miller (17:09), completed the top five for the Wave. Peter Kelly (17:11) and Luke Bella (17:12) were close to breaking in the top five.
Stay tuned to the CHS website for any changes to Saturday’s meet due to inclement weather.
