Big Orange Wave Places Second in Bayou Boogie Invitational
The Big Orange Wave kicked off its season in the Bayou Boogie hosted by St. Michael at Highland Road Park on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Bears finished second, scoring 86 points, to Episcopal in the three mile race. The performance was solid for the season opener considering the Bears lost longtime program stalwarts and multiple All-Metro competitors in Jeffrey Kelley and David Toups. The Bears defeated 5A programs Mandeville, John Curtis, Zachary, East Ascension and Fontainebleau.
Leading the way for CHS was Thomas Laville with a 5th place finish and a time of 16:11. Caleb Dugas kicked in with a clocking of 16:22, good enough for a top ten finish in 9th place. Rounding out the top five for the Bears were: James Lalonde, 15th; Collin Sarrazin, 27th; and Collin Hedges, 30th. 8th grader Ben Langley finished 3rd overall in the junior high two mile race with a time of 12:02.
The Wave takes to the course again this Saturday in the Episcopal Invitational. Teams will compete at Highland Road Park with the starter’s pistol firing a 8:30 a.m.
