Big Orange Wave Preps For Season With Kleinert Ave. Time Trial
The reconvening of school in mid-August means one thing when it comes to cross country at Catholic High. The Kleinert Avenue two mile time trial is a tradition for all Bears that run for veteran coach Pete Boudreaux. The time trial is a good gauge of where Bear runners stand with a little over two weeks away before the first meet of the season. The shade canopy of Kleinert Avenue provides the “thin-cladders” with a nice respite from the hot rays of the sun.
The Bears had 11 runners eclipse the 11 minute mark for two miles, a solid measuring stick with September 1 just around the corner.
James Lalonde led the pack with a time of 10:18. He was followed by veterans Collin Hedges (10:25), Ben Langley (10:26), Chris Cuntz (10:30), Peter Kelly (10:37), and Luke Bella (10:38). Blake Cook, Zach Morgan, Daniel Sullivan, Matthew Hubbell and Owen Simon also ran well under 11 minutes.
The Bears will participate in a pre-season scrimmage on Saturday morning, August 25, at Highland Road Park. September 1 kicks off the season with the Bears in the Bayou Boogie at Highland Road Park.
