Big Orange Wave Ready To Compete In Class 5A State Championships

The Big Orange Wave heads to Natchitoches today to compete in the Class 5A State Cross Country Championship.  The race will take place at Northwestern State University and the gun sends the runners off at 2:45 p.m.  Coach Pete Boudreaux’s squad is seeking the program’s 17th state cross country championship title.  The CHS cross country program has also nabbed 10 state runner-up honors as well.

ÒOur guys are ready for today.  It is all about what team runs its best race today,Ó said Boudreaux. ÒLast year, Jesuit came out of nowhere to win state. You always have a chance in this race.  St. Paul’s is definitely the team to beat, but stranger things have happened.  I look forward to seeing our guys compete and watching four of our seniors run the final race of their careers.”  Those four seniors are Thomas Laville, Caleb Dugas, Harold Miller and Collin Sarrazin.  Junior Peter Laville and sophomores James Lalonde and Collin Hedges round out the lineup of seven that is on a quest to bring back number 17 to Baton Rouge.

St. Paul’s, Brother Martin, Jesuit and Catholic are the top teams running in today’s 5A championship race.
