Big Orange Wave Set To Compete At St. Paul’s Meet In Abita Springs
The Big Orange Wave competed in the Interschool Meet on Monday at Highland Road Park on Monday, Oct. 31. The Bears, SJA, St. Michael and Episcopal were divided into teams, which made for a fun, but competitive event for all.
Leading the Bears were Thomas Laville (4th place in 16:03), Caleb Dugas (7th overall in 16:23), and James Lalonde (11th with a time of 16:27). The combo of Laville-Dugas-Lalonde has been a mainstay for the Bears for the last month and the Big Orange Wave has leaned on seniors Laville and Dugas throughout the season.
The Bears top seven will head down Interstate 12 on Saturday, Nov. 5 to race in the Class 5A, Region II meet hosted by St. Paul’s at Money Hill Plantation in Abita Springs. Coach Boudreaux is looking for his squad to put in an impressive showing with the Class 5A state meet on the horizon. “Districts 4, 5, and 6 of Class 5A will be in Abita Springs on Saturday. St. Paul’s is clearly the favorite to win the meet, but we are prepared and ready to run our best race,” said Boudreaux. Zachary, East Ascension, Dutchtown, Mandeville and Ponchatoula are a few of the teams that are entered at Money Hill on Saturday.
The JV and junior high Bears will race on Saturday at its familiar stomping grounds – Highland Road Park. Race time for the St. Michael Meet is 9 a.m.
The Class 5A state championship will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. The race starts at 2:45 p.m.
