Bowling Bears Cap Great Season As State Runners-Up
The Bowling Bears took their undefeated regular season record to the Final Four last Thursday at All-Star Lanes in Baton Rouge. The Bears faced Central Lafourche in the semifinals and found themselves down early 7-1 to the Trojans. But the Bears were resilient and rallied to win 14-13. CHS picked up 11 more pins than the Trojans and the pin total advantage helped the Bears advance to the finals. In the state championship match, the Bears rolled their best scores of the season, but Brother Martin proved too tough and defeated the Bears 21-6.
Bowling seniors for Catholic are Easton Hollis, Adam Crosby, Patrick Hardin, Cameron Vicknair and Brian Dinh. The five members of the Class of 2018 played an integral part in the Bears advancing to the state championship round in consecutive seasons.
Longtime head coach Robin Deck praised her team and the senior leadership. “We have been fortunate to be able to combine raw talent, passion for our sport and drive and determination over the past two years. It’s a great part of why we have been able to be so successful. Our seniors really stepped up and led the team when we needed it, especially in the quarterfinals and semifinals when we were behind and needed every point to win. I couldn’t ask for a better group of athletes,” noted Deck.
