Brother Adrian Gaudin, SC Scholarship Established
The Brother Adrian Gaudin, SC, Scribe Scholarship has recently been established by Louis and Fran Gaudin to honor Louis’ older brother who served as Catholic High principal from 1976 to 1980.
The scholarship was fully funded by Louis and Fran from ‘tax free’ donations made from their IRA accounts. This was made possible through the Pension Protection Act of 2006 which enables donors who are 70 1/2 or older to make gifts to charities using funds transferred directly from their IRA’s. Individuals taking advantage of this will not have to pay taxes on the amount of the funds transferred. Any amount up to $100,000 can be donated as long as it is done before December 31, 2007.
In addition to giving at the founder level of $1,000 or more for the last 23 years, their sizable donation through the Pension Protection Act of 2006 has brought the Gaudin’s cumulative contributions to CHS over $100,000. Their generosity will be acknowledged at this years Founders Banquet where they will be one of two couples recognized as new Perpetual Founders.
‘This is a magnificent gift from Louis and Fran,’ said Gerald E. Tullier, president of Catholic High. ‘Their interest in honoring Brother Adrian and furthering the spirit and mission of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart will be a lasting gift that will help advance the academic excellence of our school for years to come. We are so blessed to have benefactors like our new perpetual founders, Louis and Fran Gaudin.’
Any alumni or friends of CHS interested in taking advantage of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 should do so by December 31, 2007. For assistance with this or in establishing an endowed scholarship, you may contact CHS Director of Development, Hal Dupuy ’73, at 389-0978 or email@example.com.
