Brother Francis David, SC to be Inducted into CHS Hall of Fame

Brother Francis David, SC will be inducted into the Catholic High School Hall of Fame December 2, 2010, at the 26th Annual Founders Banquet at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.

A graduate of Menard Memorial High School in Alexandria, LA., Brother Francis received a bachelorí´s degree in English Secondary Education at Spring Hill College, Mobile, AL; a masterí´s degree in English Education from Florida State University, and a doctoral degree from the University of San Francisco.

Brother Francis entered the religious order of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in 1965 and made his profession of perpetual vows in 1975.  He has served in many roles as an educator including English teacher, department chair and assistant principal for discipline at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans and one year as athletic director at Catholic High School from 1979-1980. 
In 1984, Brother Francis returned to Catholic High to serve as principal until 1993 when he was named president of CHS.  He assumed this role until 2006 when he was elected Provincial of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.  Brother Francis is currently the Admissions Director at E.D. White Catholic High School in Thibodaux, Louisiana. 

Under Brother Francisí´ leadership, Catholic High School was recognized four times as a National School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.  The schoolí´s enrollment grew by 50 percent and through the creation and implementation of a strategic plan and master plan, three new facilities were added to the campus: Fine Arts/Computer Center, Health & Physical Education Center and the Brother Gordian Udinsky Science Center. 

íÍFor 117 years now, Catholic High has played an important role in building the church in the Baton Rouge area, forming young men who can be leaders in life.  It was a rare privilege for me to serve in roles of leadership at CHS for over 20 years, and to be recognized now for that service by inclusion in the schoolí´s Hall of Fame is truly a special honor,íñ commented Brother Francis.   

The Catholic High School Hall of Fame honors those men and women whose commitment and dedication to Catholic High School have been exemplary, and whose lives can be an inspiration to the students of CHS.
