Brothers Of The Sacred Heart Class Visit Brother Martin
On Tuesday, Dec. 5, seniors from the Brothers of the Sacred Heart religion class spent the day at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans. Witnessing the Brothers’ charism expressed in another school is a big part of the class curriculum.
During the visit, students were able to tour the campus and collaborate with a few religion classes. They shared about their own experiences of school and listened to Brother Martin students talk about the dynamics of their classes and extracurriculars. Ms. Kelly Wild, college admissions counselor at Brother Martin, spoke to the class about the Coindre Leadership Program and being formed as a teacher in a Brothers school. Mr. Patrick McClain, CHS Class of 2004 and Brother Martin math teacher, spoke to the group about being a part of both communities. Mr. McClain was joined in the sharing by CHS band director Mr. Mark Messina, a 2006 Brother Martin graduate, who told his story about spending half of his senior year on the CHS campus following Hurricane Katrina. The class posed for a group photo around the missing brick commemorating that year CHS opened its doors to Brother Martin. The day concluded with a tour of the provincial office across the street from Brother Martin.
