Catholic High Celebrates Homecoming
Catholic High alumni, faculty and staff, parents, students and friends celebrated Homecoming with a jambalaya dinner hosted by the CHS Alumni Association and prepared by Pete Hymel Friday night at Memorial Stadium.
Before the Bears took the field to take on St. Thomas More, a special presentation was made of the CHS alumni on LSU National Championship Baseball teams. The 15 CHS alums recognized were Bhrett McCabe í´90, 1991 and 1993 teams; Kevin Ainsworth í´92, 1993 team; Jesse Daigle
í´89, 1993 team; Tim Lanier í´92, 1993 and 1996 teams; Brian Daugherty í´92, 1993, 1996 and 1997 teams; Patrick Coogan í´93, 1996 and 1997 teams; Chris Demouy í´93, 1996 and 1997 teams; Dan Guillory í´94, 1996 and 1997 teams; Keith Polozola í´92, 1996 and 1997 teams; Kurt Ainsworth í´96, 1997 team; Jamin Garidel í´96, 1997 and 2000 teams; Antoine Simon í´95, 1997 and 2000 teams; Victor Brumfield Jr. í´98, 2000 team; Brad David í´98, 2000 team; and Austin Nola í´08, 2009 team.
Special recognition was also given to St. Thomas More alum and 2009 LSU National Championship Baseball team member Mikie Mahtook.
The homecoming excitement continued when the Bears took the field. After keeping the lead for three quarters, the Bears fell to St. Thomas More with a score of 14-10. Click here for highlights in The Advocate.
The CHS Homecoming Court was presented at half-time as the award winning CHS Band played on the field. Presented as court members were Britney Brown, Lucie Calderon, Kristin Gahagan, Hillary Johnson, Bonnie McLindon and Morgan Olinde. Lucie Calderon was presented as the 2009 CHS Homecoming Queen.
The Alumni Association would like to thank Michael Cashio and Heads and Tails Seafood Market & Restaurant for being great supporters of the annual alumni homecoming tailgate event by providing the tables and chairs for the past seven years!
