Catholic High has long been the standard bearer for prep wrestling in the Baton Rouge metro area
The Bears will shoot for its 30th City Championship in the fifty year history of the meet this weekend in the Catholic gym.
CHS will finally have a complete, fourteen position roster for the first time this season for the City meet. The Bears are coming off of a 7th place finish at the Louisiana Classic, the largest high school wrestling meet in the state, last weekend at Lamar-Dixon Center.
Veteran coach Tommy Prochaska likes where his team is coming into City and expects St. Amant, Live Oak, East Ascension, and Brusly to make noise in the team standings. Luke Romano, Connor Finucane, Brian Hibbard, A.J. Sabine, Ian Wyble and Hunter Goodson are mainstays for the Bears on the mat. Goodson and Wyble are #1 seeds going into action in their respective weight divisions.
Things get underway at CHS at 5pm on Friday evening and resume Saturday morning at 9am. Finals begin at 2pm on Saturday.
