Catholic High School Names Offensive Coordinator for the 2021 Football Season
BATON ROUGE, LA – JANUARY 22, 2021 – The Catholic High School Athletic Department announces the promotion of Caleb Williamson to offensive coordinator for the 2021 football season. Williamson, the CHS football team’s longest-tenured staff member, says he is honored to take on the new role.
“I’m humbled and grateful for this tremendous opportunity,” Williamson says. “I love our football staff, our school, and the culture we have here at CHS, and I look forward to continuing to work with our talented football players.”
Williamson served as CHS’s wide receiver coach for the past 13 seasons. During this time, he has helped the Bears win three state championships, two state runners-up titles, one semi-final appearance, and eight district championships. In addition to his coaching duties, Williamson teaches AP Government/Politics and Civics at CHS. He is the co-moderator of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is responsible for implementing the football team’s yearly spiritual development plan.
CHS Head Football Coach Gabe Fertitta and Principal Lisa Harvey express their confidence in Williamson to take on this new role.
“I can honestly say that I have never met a coach that has worked so hard to grow and learn in this profession,” Fertitta says. “During his 13 years here, I’ve not only seen Caleb develop as a coach but as a man of faith and integrity. His example as a husband, father, coach, and friend is his greatest contribution to our program.”
“Caleb is a perfect example of how dedication, hard work, and determination pay off. He is certainly destined for great things,” Harvey says. “He is a talented educator who sets a great example for our students; we are thrilled to have him as a part of the CHS community.”
Williamson says he is ready to continue the tradition of excellence associated with CHS athletics.
“I’m excited to get started, and I am looking forward to thriving in this new role,” he says.
With Williamson’s promotion to offensive coordinator, the Bears name current offensive line coach Matt Shelton as the run game coordinator for the 2021 season. CHS alumnus and former Nicholls State University wide receiver Brad Nelson ’10 now steps into the wide receiver coach role.
