Catholic High Wins Fourth Straight 5A State Track Title

Catholic High captured its fourth straight Class 5A boys state title at the LHSAA State Outdoor Track and Field Meet May 7. 

With this victory, CHS becomes the first team to win four straight boys track titles in the state’s top classification.  The Bears finished with 76 points to East Ascension 46 and Lafayette 38.

Scoring for Catholic High in the field events were Sloane Simoneaux, third in the javelin; Stephen Hayden, sixth in the pole vault; and Anthony Van Duzee, fourth in the shot put.

Scoring in the running events were Cole Stafford, first in the 1600 meters; Ken Ward, third in the 110 hurdles; Matthew Rhorer, fourth in the 800; Ben Ross, sixth in the 800; Jessie Cole, first in the 400; Chris Handy, fourth in the 400; D.J. Woodard, fourth in the 300 hurdles; Cole Stafford, first in the 3200; Joseph St. Cyr, third in the 3200; Hil Stephens,  D.J. Woodard, Chris Handy, and Jessie Cole, first in the 4×400 realy.
