CHS Alumni Named to Tiger Twelve Class of 2008
Two Catholic High School alumni were among 12 potential graduates of LSU who were named members of the Tiger Twelve Class of 2008 by the LSU Office of the Dean of Students. Steven Primeaux ’04, Dillon Couvillon ’04 and the other 10 recipients were honored with a reception on April 27 at the LSU Faculty Club.
The Tiger Twelve recognizes student leaders for their efforts on campus and in the community. Selection is based on the principles articulated in LSU’s Commitment to Community, which was adopted as a ‘Statement of University Position’ for the university community in 1995.
Recipients must ‘contribute positively to the life of the campus and surrounding community’; must hold themselves to the ‘highest standards of academic, personal and social integrity’; must ‘practice justice, equality and compassion in human relations’; and must ‘respect the dignity of all persons and accept individual differences.’ This award recognizes graduates who are current, full-time students and who have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
Nominations were accepted from the university community, and a committee selected the final 12 from a pool of more than 40 nominees.
Primeaux, who is a French studies and philosophy major, will graduate from LSU in May. While at LSU, he has served as president of the Philosophy Club, chaplin of the Campus Libertarians and served on the Honors College Student Council. He also served as a residence hall adviser and medical volunteer at the PMAC during Hurricane Katrina, volunteered as a mentor at McKinley Magnet School directing students in theatrical performances and served as a volunteer musician.
While at Catholic High, Primeaux was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, track team and chorus. His senior year at CHS, Steven received a Golden Bear in English, was named salutatorian and was a National Merit Semifinalist.
Couvillon, a broadcast journalism major with a minor in communication studies, will graduate from LSU in May. Currently at LSU, Dillon is the stage manager for Tiger TV and a member of Leadership LSU. He has also served as an LSU Ambassadors, Spring Invitational leader and Summer Orientation leader.
While at Catholic High, Couvillon was a member of Key Club and Drama and served as co-secretary of Chorus and as Bruinette manager.
