CHS Baseball Drops One to Crosstown Rival

The 4-1 Bears dropped their Tuesday game to crosstown 4A rival St. Michael, 12-3.  St. Michael was ranked #3 in the Class 4A pre-season poll.

The Bears were led at the plate by Tristan Welch’s two RBI double. Brian Fairbanks (1-1) took the loss for CHS.

“Credit St. Michael for coming ready to play and taking advantage of our mistakes,” noted CHS coach Brad Bass. “They always play us tough and their coaching staff does a great job with their guys. The beauty about baseball is that we go back to work and get ready to play again on Thursday.”

The Bears travel to the Lake Charles area on Thursday, March 3, for the Southwest Louisiana Tournament hosted by Barbe High School. The Bears will meet Notre Dame-Crowley on Thursday, Sam Houston on Friday, and close with nationally ranked Sulphur and defending 5A state champion Barbe on Saturday.

Stay tuned for times and sites for the Bears’ schedule this weekend.
