CHS Baseball Players Receive All-State Recognition

The Catholic High baseball team enjoyed a magical run to the state finals this past season in the Division I playoffs.  The Bears captured a district title, then defeated St. Paul’s twice and Holy Cross in the semifinals to reach the finals versus John Curtis and finish 2017 with a 29-9 record.

The accolades keep coming as junior catcher Brennan Lambert was named to the 5A All-State first team as a utility player. Lambert, in his second season as a starter behind the plate, led the Bears with a .353 batting average. He also led the team in RBI with 32 and extra base hits with 14.  Lambert clubbed two home runs as well. On defense, Lambert fielded .983 and threw out 11 baserunners on the season.

Will Ethridge was named to the Honorable Mention All-State team.  Ethridge, a senior second baseman, overcame a mid-season injury to hit .345 – good enough for second on the team.  The Nicholls State signee stole 14 bases, led the team with 5 triples and scored 25 runs.
