CHS Baseball Team Rally for Close Win Against East Ascension

The baseball team showed a strong sense of character in the final Non-District game of the year. The Bears took on East Ascension yesterday at Catholic High School and won a close 7-6 game.

The Bears trailed the Spartans by 5 runs in the 3rd inning. In the bottom of the inning, the Bears scored 2 runs thanks to the offense of R. Lewis (Soph.). A run in the 4th and a 3 run inning in the 6th put the team in a great position to win. The scoring barrage in the sixth was lead by a solo home run by Lewis and a triple by Senior B. Landry. With the game knotted at 6, the Bears took the plate in the bottom of the 7th. The Bears closed the game out with a game winning double by K. David (Sr.) that drove in M. Billings (Sr.).

After a slow start, the defense rallied behind a tremendous relief effort by Alec Daniel (Jr.; 3-1 record). Daniel came in for relief of starter C. Elliott (Sr.) in the 3rd inning and pitched 4 innings giving up only 1 run.
The team leaders were R. Lewis (2-3, HR), C. Deno (2-3), Kevin David (1-3, GWH). Next up for the team’.District Play. The Bears will host the Walker Wildcats at Catholic High this Saturday. The J.V. game starts @ 10:00 with the varsity action to follow
