CHS Basketball Team Defeats Central 54-41
The CHS Basketball team traveled across town on Tuesday, Jan. 12 to face the 8-8 Central Wildcats. The Bears overcame a 13-9 first quarter deficit behind the 23 points and nine rebounds of Toliver Freeman to defeat the Wildcats, 54-41.
The Bears entered halftime with an eight point lead, only to see the margin shrink to 34-29 going into the final stanza, but CHS outscored Central 20-12 in the final period.
Ethan Treigle dropped in nine, Austin Lachney had eight and Jacoby Carter scored seven to contribute to the Bears’ cause. Freeman (two), Treigle and Grant Sceroler combined to hit four three pointers. Carter led the team in steals with three.
The Bears hit the court again on Friday, Jan. 15 at home versus Walker. The 9th grade tips off at 5 p.m., the JV follows at 6 p.m., and the Varsity starts at 7:15 p.m.
Walker enters the game with a 15-4 record and sports victories over St. Amant, Denham Springs and Woodlawn. Friday’s contest is the final tuneup for district which begins on Tuesday versus East Ascension at the Bear Cave.
