CHS Basketball Team To Open Season At Mandeville Nov. 17
The CHS basketball team defeated Lee High in their final pre-season tuneup on Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the Zachary Jamboree. The Bears led 14-0 at halftime and cruised to a 35-8 victory over their 4A opponent. The jamboree game consisted of two, ten minute halves.
Tensley Aldredge led the Bears in scoring with 11 points in the team’s offensive assault against Lee. Austin Lachney chipped in 5 points, while Remy Robert and Dean Jolly each scored 4 for the Bears.
The Bears open the season on Thursday, Nov. 17 on the road at 5A Mandeville in “The Deep Blue Sea.” The Skippers were 13-14 last season, but return the bulk of their squad and gain two transfers to their roster.
“Mandeville will run a motion offense with a lot of set plays,” said CHS Head Basketball Coach Mark Cascio. “They are very well-coached. We need to prevent them from running their sets, contest their shooters, and create easy scoring opportunities in transition. We will need to play well to win against the Skippers.”
Tip off for Thursday’s season opener is at 7:15 p.m. The varsity match will be preceded by the freshman and junior varsity teams. The freshman game will start at 5 p.m. with the JV shooting for 6.
