CHS Class of 1963 Honored at 50-Year Reunion

Catholic High School honored its 50-year graduates, the class of 1963, at a reunion on campus Saturday, May 11, 2013.

Also honored were the 60-, 65-, 70- and 75-year graduates from the classes of 1953, 1948, 1943 and 1938.  The event was sponsored by the CHS Alumni Association.

The evening began with Mass at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by Reverend Paul A. McDuffie.

Participating in the Mass were 1963 class members Al Wintz, Roland Sanchez, Dan Murray, Wade Labat, David Malatesta, Tom Kleinpeter , Denny Vicknair and Ed Chenevert.   Also participating in the Mass were Davis Hotard and Denise Williston.

Following the Mass, honorees gathered in the Catholic High School gymnasium for a social and a steak dinner prepared by the CHS Mení´s Club and organized by Junior Politz, Michael Lamana, from the CHS class of 1964, Mike Nola, from the CHS class of 1962 and Al Wintz, from the CHS class of 1963. Student servers for the evening were members of the CHS Key Club, under the direction of Scott Losavio and Tracy Ducote.  Glen Randow, director of alumni relations served as master of ceremonies and Gene Tullier, president of Catholic High welcomed the dinner guests, volunteers, CHS faculty and staff in attendance. Brother Ivy LeBlanc, from the class of 1963, provincial of the New Orleans Province of the Brother of the Sacred Heart, led the blessing before dinner.  Hal Dupuy, CHS director of advancement welcomed the reunion honorees and other alumni present.  Dr. Bill Poche from the CHS class of 1963 provided reminiscences for the 50-year graduates. Brother Louis Couvillon, from the class of 1963 led the closing prayer.

Commemorative diplomas were presented to the 50-year graduates and special gifts were also given to the members of the 60-, 65-, 70- and 75-year reunion classes. 

David Broussard and Mark Emonet were the CHS Alumni Board of Directors 50-Year Reunion committee co-chairmen.  Glen Randow, director of alumni relations; Barbara Camp, associate director of alumni relations; and members of the alumni association board of directors organized the event.
