CHS Faculty and Staff Reach Out to Community
The faculty and staff of Catholic High School served their communities as they participated in a Day of Experience, Friday, October 29, 2010. Over 100 employees worked at seven different locations in and around Baton Rouge including Habitat for Humanity, the Food Bank, Heritage House Nursing Home and Catholic Community Services. A group of faculty and staff also traveled to tour the prison facilities at Angola and Hunt Correctional Center. Another group traveled to Port Fourchon, LA where they planted 2,400 trees for coastal restoration as part of the Barataria Terrebonne National Estuary Program.
This annual event is part of faculty formation in the Catholic Social Teaching Program to help bring an awareness of the many great needs in our communities. It provides the employees of Catholic High an opportunity for service that sets an example for students and encourages each person to continue to reach out and offer his time and talents to those in need throughout the year.
