CHS Football Team Recognized in House of Representatives
The Catholic High School state champion football team was recognized on the floor of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. The team was presented with a resolution enrolled during the 2018 Regular Session by Rep. Steve Carter.
“THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the athletes, coaches, and managers of the Catholic High School football team on their 2017 Allstate Sugar Bowl Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division I football state championship and does hereby acknowledge the pride and honor they have brought to their school and community.” Click here to read the full resolution.
Former head football coach and current faculty member Dale Weiner was also presented with a resolution. “THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Coach Dale Weiner upon his 2018 induction into the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame and does hereby express best wishes for continued success in academics and happiness in life.” Click here to read the full resolution.
Following the presentation in the House of Representatives, the team was invited to a private audience with Governor John Bel Edwards. Edwards talked to the players about his time playing high school football and the importance of putting effort into academics as well as athletics.
