CHS Freshman Jefferson Koonce Earns The Rank Of Eagle Scout
Catholic High freshman Jefferson Koonce has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Koonce is a member of BSA Troop 1, chartered from First United Methodist Church.
To earn this rank, a Scout must progress through six ranks, earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, serve in several leadership positions within his troop and provide service to the community. In addition, a Scout must plan, develop and give leadership to a service project for a religious or community organization.
For his Eagle Scout project, Koonce worked with THRIVE Academy, a free, college preparatory, charter boarding school for students in grades six-twelve. With its recent move from its downtown location to a new facility, the school needed new dining tables for the kitchen and living areas of the dormitories.
Organizing and leading a group of volunteers, Koonce designed and built six new tables for the school.
