CHS Golf Team Holds Junior Pro-Am at Copper Mill Golf Course

The Catholic Golf team held its 2016 Junior Pro-Am on Saturday, Jan. 23 at Copper Mill Golf Course in Zachary.  Head golf coach Pat Dulaney ’92 was the Pro-Am director.

The Pro-Am saw 21 teams participate in sub-50 degree temperatures on a windy and damp course.  Despite the conditions, a great golfing outing was experienced followed by food and fellowship in the clubhouse.

The team of Edwin Lee, Chip Lee, Chris Donner, and senior golf team member, William Lee, was the winning foursome with a score of 58.  The 14 under par score bested a team led by junior golfer D.J. Johnson’s group. Team Johnson holed a 60 to finish in second, followed by ninth grade golfer William Perilloux’s third place team, who also scored a 60.

Longest drive champion was Chip Lee for his 261 yard drive. Putting contest winner was Sam Parker, the only golfer to sink his putt from 60 yards out. Closest to the Pin on hole six was Steve Caruso and Closest to the Pin on hole 11 was Andrew Bennett.

The CHS golf team begins its season on Tuesday, Feb. 16.  Last year’s squad was the state runners-up in Class 5A.
