CHS Golfers Shoot For City Title

The CHS golf team is seeking a city golf title at the Metro Championship on Tuesday, April 10. The tournament will field 51 of the best golfers in the greater Baton Rouge area and will be held at The Island in Plaquemine. The Bears will be challenged by last year’s champion University. Other schools competing include Zachary, Episcopal and Dunham.

Carson Caruso, Johnathan Ellis, Nick Ashy, Will Perilloux and Brayden Seguin will round out the team of five for the Bears. Caruso leads the team with a nine hole average of just over even par and was the individual winner of the Alexandria/Menard Invitational in early March. Ellis has an average of one over par for nine holes and was the recent winner of the Arrowhead Golf Tour event at The Wetlands. He defeated teammate Brayden Seguin in a one hole playoff.

The Bears are seeking their first Metro title since 2014, when they rattled off six wins in a row. University won it in 2016 and 2017. The tournament was canceled in 2015 due to wet courses.

Catholic will compete in successive weeks in the Metro (April 10th); District (April 17th at Greystone), Regionals (April 24th at Carter); and State (April 30th and May 1st at The Wetlands).
