CHS Grads Named LSU Discover Scholars
Congratulations to CHS graduates Chris Handy ’12 and Kurt Ristroph ’12, for being named LSU Discover Scholars for 2016. The LSU Discover Scholar award recognizes students who exemplify the potential for undergraduate research and creative endeavors at LSU.
Handy, who is a Honors College senior majoring in Political Communication, was recognized for his project, Depoliticizing Science: The Effects of Local Crises on Partisan Science Policy. His work was inspired by Yale Law Professor Dan Kahan’s research in political psychology and science communication.
Ristroph is also a Honors College senior, double majoring in Chemical Engineering and Liberal Arts. He is a member of the Honors College Student Council, Honors College Advocates, National Senior Classical League and the LSU chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
These outstanding young men were nominated by faculty and selected by a panel of judges. Discover Scholar Awardees will be honored at a breakfast with LSU President F. King Alexander.
