CHS Grapplers Have Success
The CHS wrestling team traveled to St. Paul’s last Saturday to grapple the host school along with Archbishop Rummel in a tri-meet format. The Bears showed well against two traditional Division I powers with junior Cameron Carpenter and sophomore Jacob Fereday highlighting the day.
Carpenter is now 14-0 on the season in the 120 pound weight class and dominated Rummel wrestler Robert Fairchild in their match, 12-4. Fairchild came into the match projected as the #2 ranked wrestler at 120.
Fereday defeated St. Paul’s Sam Dufour in 160 pound action. Dufour is the projected #1 ranked wrestler in 5A at 160.
The Bears return to the mat at home on Wednesday for 6:30 versus Division III power De La Salle of New Orleans. The Cavaliers were the state runners-up at the Division III state meet last year.
This weekend you can catch the wrestling team at home as they host the CHS Dual Meet. Action begins at 1 p.m. with two pools of five teams being the format. Brusly, Live Oak, St. Amant, Hahnville, and Hoover High of Alabama are some of the featured programs scheduled to appear.
