CHS Grapplers Repeat As City Champions!

The CHS wrestling team captured its 27th City Championship and the 15th in the career of coach Tommy Prochaska this weekend in the Catholic High gym. This championship win is the second in a row for CHS. The Bears placed eleven wrestlers in the top three and eight in the finals, with four capturing individual city championships – Cameron Carpenter (120), Davis Polito (138), Jacob Fereday (160) and K.J. Wilson (285). Daniel Gunn (126), Brent Torres (145), Andrew Messina (152) and Nicholas Danna (195) were city runner-ups. Lance Blanchard (132), Denver Denison (170) and James DeLee (220) finished in third for the Bears.

After the match, wrestling alums from 1968 through 2015 celebrated the 27th title at Your Mom’s Restaurant. Over fifty wrestling alums enjoyed food, fellowship, and talking about their experiences at CHS.

The wrestlers have two weeks to prepare for the Division I State Championship to be held in Bossier City at the Century Tel Arena.
