CHS Group Attends 2015 Blessings on the Bayou
More than 40 CHS students, faculty and alumni attended Blessings on the Bayou at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville, LA on June 10-14. The theme of the mission trip was íÍLet Your Light Shine for All to See.íñ
On Thursday, the group did team building activities and made visits to local nursing homes. The rest of the trip, the group split up to perform various services for the elderly community. Majority of service work included lawn mowing, landscaping, house painting, cleaning and visiting the shut-ins of the parish.
Each evening included large group presentations of the íÍblessing of the dayíñ í how they saw God in their work of that day. Each night closed with a significant prayer experience about topics such as what it means to be a disciple, prayer, making a difference and leaving a legacy. It also included opportunities for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick.
Blessings on the Bayou closed with a Commissioning Service on Sunday night in which the missionaries were challenged to take what they had learned and put it into practiceíto be Christ in the world!
