CHS Inducts Mr. and Mrs. Gerald H. Marchand into Hall of Fame

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald H. Marchand were inducted into the Catholic High School Hall of Fame December 5, 2013 at the 29th Annual Founders Banquet at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.  The Marchandí´s are only the third couple to be inducted into the CHS Hall of Fame and the first since 1972.

In 1963, Jerry í´49 married the former Linda Kron.  Together, Catholic High School and many others in the Baton Rouge area have benefitted from their service and generosity. 
Linda has been active with the Junior League of Baton Rouge, the Red Cross, the Heart Association, and Cancer Society of Greater Baton Rouge.  She was very active in the Catholic High Mothersí´ Club and served as President in 1986.

Jerry has been involved with the Young Mení´s Business Club, the Heart Association, the Rotary Club, and avid supporter of Ducks Unlimited and the Gulf Coast Conservation Association.
In 1975, Jerry was inducted as a Catholic High Grizzly Great; he was later inducted into the LSU Hall of Fame in recognition of his accomplishments in football and baseball; and he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Outdoor Advertising Association of America.

Linda and Jerry have three children: Matt í´84; Paul í´86, and Tena, SJA Class of 1988.
The CHS Alumni Association, Mothersí´ Club and Mení´s Clubs were honored as new CHS Perpetual Founders for their generous donation of $100,000 or more to Catholic High School since their inception.

Hal Dupuy ’73, director of advancement, served as the master of ceremonies of the 29th Annual Founders Banquet and Gene Tullier, CHS president, inducted Mr. and Mrs. Marchand in the Hall of Fame. 

Dupuy recognized the Alumni Association current President Mark Emonet ’87, past Mothersí´ Club President Laura Poch_ and past Mení´s Club President Kevin Brian ’86, for their contributions to CHS in the 2012-2013 fiscal year.  Dupuy also acknowledged Steve and Jane Sherman, 2012-2013 Parents Annual Giving Event chaircouple, for their leadership.
