CHS Junior Earns Eagle Scout Rank
CHS junior Gaven DeVillier earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Eagle is the highest rank given by the Boy Scouts of America, and it denotes service, character and leadership. For every 100 boys who join Scouting, only two will achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Each scout pursuing the rank of Eagle must earn 21 required merit badges as well as complete a service project for a non-profit organization.
He joins many current and former Catholic High students who have obtained the Eagle ranking.
DeVillierí´s Eagle Scout project benefited St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly, LA. He oversaw a group of volunteers who worked together to build benches to be placed outside of the Christian formation classrooms. These benches are to be used by students waiting for class to begin as well as for parents waiting to pickup children when classes end.
DeVillier is a member of Troop 53 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Port Allen.
