CHS Lacrosse Gets Big Win

The CHS lacrosse team took on the visiting Captain Shreve Gators of Shreveport at Olympia Stadium on Saturday, March 12. In front of a wet crowd, the Bears played one of their most complete games of the season and came away with an important 11-10 victory.

On offense, the Bears were led by attack man Evan Fontenot with four goals and one assist.  Fontenot’s fellow attack man, Holden David, had two goals and two assists.

Defensively, the Bears were led by keeper Beau Abadie, with fourteen saves, and defenseman Michael Browning with four ground balls, two takeaways and a goal. Browning’s goal came during a crucial man down situation after the Bears had a man put in the penalty box.

Following the varsity game, the Bears JV beat the Gators 15-1. The victory kept the undefeated regular season record of the JV intact.

The Bears continue their trek to the district championship with a match Tuesday, March 15, versus Holy Cross. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Catholic High. The Holy Cross match is also Senior Night!

The Bears then travel to Lafayette on Friday, March 18, with a district title on the line, to face archrival St. Thomas More at 8:00 p.m..

The Bears are 7-8 overall and 2-0 in district play.
