CHS Lacrosse Makes Mardi Gras Road Trip

“Yeah, I’m going to Jackson” is a line from a famous Johnny Cash song. It can also be the words for the Catholic High Lacrosse team as the Bears travel to Jackson, Mississippi, on Wednesday, Feb. 14, to square off at Madison Central High. The JV gets going at 5:00 p.m. and the Varsity Bears will follow at 7:00 p.m.

The Bears will get back on the road and head west on Interstate 20 on Thursday, Feb. 15, to participate in a three match schedule in Shreveport. The Bears will play at Byrd on Thursday (7:30 p.m.), at Loyola on Friday (6:00 p.m.) and at Airline on Saturday (9:00 a.m.). The junior varsity squads will also play the same schools on the same day.

The Bears head into the four game road stretch with a 3-3-1 record. The team dropped a match to Brother Martin earlier in the month, then defeated Central at home last Thursday night to even its record.

Head coach George Hopkins looks forward to competing against four solid programs on the road during the holiday break. Hopkins should have a good read on his team after the four game swing before heading into the Crawfish Classic at the end of this month.
