CHS Marching Band Participates in Duckroost Bandboree

The CHS Marching Band participated in the Duckroost Bandboree, hosted by St. Amant High, but held at Dutchtown High on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015. Participating bands included CHS, East Ascension, Denham Springs, Dutchtown and St. Amant.

This inaugural year of the Duckroost Bandboree was a festival that involved no ratings and no competition, just a chance for all of the bands to perform their show in front of judges for comments only.  Each Band got the chance to watch each other’s show and cheer them on.  The seniors from all bands started the event by playing the national anthem, conducted by Sheily Bell (Dutchtown Band Director).  After all bands performed, there was a combined band performance of “Amazing Grace” in which CHS Band Director Mark Messina was selected to conduct that.

All drumlines also combined to perform a cadence after Amazing Grace.  To finish off the night, all of the band members had a social on the field while directors met with judges to discuss the individual schools’  performance.
