CHS Participates in Lenten Day of Fasting
On Thursday, April 3, the Catholic High community participated in a one-day fast with the other Brothers of the Sacred Heart schools in the New Orleans Province as a show of Lenten solidarity with the Brothers of the Sacred Heart mission school Amatongas in Mozambique.
Students and faculty had the opportunity to eat a simple meal similar to one eaten often by the students at Amatongas.
CHS Campus Minister Scott Losavio í´95 organized the fast and was pleased by the number of students and faculty members who participated in this Lenten sacrifice.
íÍThe fast was a great opportunity for all who participated to feel connected to our brothers and sisters in Mozambique. Through fasting and prayer we can all be moved to compassion for others, a compassion that leads us to give. This conversion is what Lent is all about,” commented Losavio.
Additionally, a Rice Bowl collection was be held during the fast. All proceeds from our Rice Bowl collection will be donated to Mission Amatongas.
In conjunction with the fast, a prayer reflection opportunity was offered after school in the Brothers’ chapel on April 3.
