CHS Players Compete In Red Stick Bowl
Three Catholic High football players participated in the 16th annual Red Stick Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Olympia Stadium. The Red Stick Bowl is sponsored by the U.S. Army and the Brees Dream Foundation.
Seniors Andrew Gauthier, Preston Stafford and Patrick Mensah were selected by area high school coaches to represent Catholic High in the bowl game that features some of the best players in the Baton Rouge metro area. The three Bears played for the Black Knights, who were tough luck losers to the Rattlers in six overtimes, 44-38.
Andrew Gauthier was named defensive captain for the Black Knights and also picked up the Best Linebacker Award for his close to twenty tackle performance in the game. Preston Stafford was named Most Outstanding Special Teams performer for the Black Knights. Stafford converted three field goals for the Black Knights. Patrick Mensah was instrumental in his team’s success, breaking up multiple passes and exciting the crowd with his return skills.
