CHS Senior Simon Silverberg Selected as a Semifinalist for the U.S. Senate Youth Program
CHS senior Simon Silverberg was chosen as one of six Louisiana semifinalists for the 2014-2015 United States Senate Youth Program.
Two finalists from each state will receive a week-long, all expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. in March of 2015 and a $5,000 college scholarship. The final step in selecting the two recipients involves completing a written exam and interviewing in front of a panel of external judges.
The leadership program is a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students interested in pursuing careers in public service and has been sponsored by the William R. Hearst Foundation for the last 53 years. Student delegates will hear major policy addresses by Senators, cabinet members, officials from the Departments of State and Defense and directors of other federal agencies, as well as participate in a meeting with a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
