CHS/SJA Alumni Theatre To Present The Last Five Years
The St. Joseph’s Academy/Catholic High School Alumni Summer Theatre is proud to present its debut production of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years. It will take place in the black box theater of the Academy Arts Center.
This two-person production stars SJA graduate Stephanie Toups í´12 and CHS graduate Chase Duhe í´10 and is directed by SJA Drama Director David Coley. Musical direction is by Nathan Walker.
The musical tells the story of Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress, and Jamie Wellerstein, an aspiring author, as the two fall in and out of love over the course of five years. What makes the show unique is the way in which the story is told. Rather than experiencing the relationship as the couple did, the audience will watch Cathy go backwards through the relationship while Jamie moves forward. The two paths cross only once, when Jamie proposes and the pair exchanges vows. The musical includes adult language.
Stephanie Toups is the creator of Alumni Summer Theatre. Her vision is to showcase the talents of graduates of the SJA/CHS performing arts program and to see the organization grow to bring summer productions to the stage each year. SJA will work with alums to continue the Alumni Summer Theater into the future. Visit http://www.alumnisummertheatre.com/.
