CHS/SJA Band, Bruinette And Cheer Alumni Take The Field One More Time
Members of the Catholic High School Band, Bruinettes and Cheerleaders met for a reunion on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 15 and 16, 2016.
More than 150 band members, Bruinettes and cheerleaders from St. JosephÕs Academy and Catholic High School gathered Thursday on the CHS campus for rehearsals in preparation to perform at the CHS football game at Memorial Stadium on Friday. Representatives from several classes were in attendance, including three cheerleaders from the classes of 1946, 1952 and 1962, and CHS mascots from the classes of 1962 and 1979. The Bruinettes, cheerleaders and band members practiced individually and then joined on the football field for a final run through. After rehearsals, everyone met for a social in the CHS Union with food provided by the Santa Fe Cattle Co. of Hammond and beverages provided by ZippyÕs of Baton Rouge.
On Friday, reunion participants attended a tailgate at Memorial Stadium and then joined current CHS band, Bruinettes and cheerleaders performing in the stands and on the football field. Participants wore reunion T-shirts from Ad-Venture Silk Screen. Jambalaya was provided by Pete Hymel and bottled water from the Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
