CHS/SJA Black Box Company Takes The Spotlight At State Thespian Festival

The CHS/SJA Black Box Company recently attended the State Thespian Festival in Natchitoches. The Company received a “Superior” rating in all five performance events entered, qualifying for the national festival at Indiana University in June.

The Company also scored “Best in Category” in two events, and were the only school to win more than one category out of the 26 schools entered in the competition.

Duet Musical Theatre – If Momma Was Married from Gypsy performed by Caroline Feduccia and Nicole Mann

Group Acting – Sylvia by A.R. Gurney performed by Olivia Mack, Rhianna San Soucie, Evan Tassin

  • Best Overall in Category, performed in Final Showcase
  • Superior Rating

Solo Musical Theatre – Mister Cellophane from Chicago performed by Jefferson Koonce

  • Superior Rating

Group Musical Theatre – Hard Knock Life from Annie performed by Avery Boudreaux, Bret Burns, Haley Carney, Jules Culotta, Noelle DeFee, Emma Durnin, Zayne Rome, Alex Stoute, and Faith Woods

  • Called back for Final Showcase (essentially “second place” in category)
  • Superior Rating

Solo Acting – Five Flights by Adam Bock and The Diviners by Jim Leonard – performed by Daniela Latil

  • Superior Rating
