CHS/SJA Challenge A Success

Catholic High School Student Council was host to the first-ever CHS/SJA Challenge on March 18, 2005 in the CHS Gym in celebrating student council week. Approximately 1,200 CHS and SJA students attended and participated in the challenge.

‘The challenge was intended to bring two schools together in an effort to raise school spirit and in the name of charity,’ commented CHS Student Council Co-Moderator Sherie Noel.

Catholic High and St. Joseph’s Academy students competed in challenges such as volleyball, spirit challenge, ping pong relay, hippity hop race, egg toss, uniform swap, and 4-legged race. With a score of 13-12, SJA took home the first CHS/SJA Challenge trophy. The winning school also had the opportunity to ‘pie’ the losing school. CHS’s Principal Brother Barry Landry, SC, Student Council Co-moderators Fiona Conroy and Sherie Noel, Activities Director Kim Naquin, Student Body President Dixon McMakin ’05 and Senior Class President Tim Durel ’05 received pies in the face by their SJA counterparts all in the name of charity.

A portion of the proceeds will go to a charity of choice decided by the CHS and SJA student councils.
