CHS/SJA Drama Club Announces 2014-2015 Season

The CHS/SJA Drama Club kicked off its year on August 20, in the Black Box Theater.  Club officers and Drama Director Ben Phelan welcomed over 200 prospective members and announced the 2014-2015 season.

The fall production will be The Matchmaker by Thorton Wilder and will run on November 6, 8 and 9.  Auditions will be held on September 3, at the SJA Black Box Theater.  In the spring, Pirates of Penzance will open March 20, and run through the 22.  This large-cast musical will offer student performers the opportunity to showcase a wide variety of skills.

CHS senior and Drama Club Vice President Trey Menville is excited about the schedule.  “The shows this year are perfect for our club. We can’t wait to share all the laughs with the audience.”  Moderator Judy Chapoy says she is íÍlooking forward to a great year with much anticipated and energetic excitement.íñ  CHS Senior and Stage Manager Grant Rothermel is happy to begin a year of Drama. íÍThe first Drama Club meeting demonstrated that this year will be exciting and full of lively performances, and I personally cannot wait to be a part of both productions and work with Mr. Phelan, the veterans of the Drama Club and all of the fresh faces we saw at the meeting. The two shows will highlight our companyí´s strengths and the size of the productions will allow for more members to be introduced to both being on stage and behind the scenes.íñ

The Drama Club leadership includes: Addison Hollis and Ethan Barbin, presidents; Katie Michael and Trey Menville, vice presidents; Jordan Phillips, secretary; Mary Dicharry, historian; and Grant Rothermel, stage manager.

CHS students interested in joining the Drama Club and being involved in the production should turn in $20 club dues to the Activities Office by September 3, 2014.  Questions can be directed to moderators Tracy Ducote and Judy Chapoy.
