CHS/SJA Drama Presents The Elephant’s Graveyard
The Elephant’s Graveyard, a play by George Brant, is the true tale of the tragic collision of a struggling circus and a tiny town in Tennessee, which resulted in the only known lynching of an elephant. Set in September of 1916, the play combines historical fact and legend, exploring the deep-seated American craving for spectacle, violence and revenge.
The play is told mostly as a story in past tense, with the actors telling points of view to the audience rather than interacting.
The production opens tonight at 6:30 p.m., and runs through Sunday, November 10. Showtimes are: Wednesday and Thursday at 6:30 pm, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale through ShopSJA.
