CHS Students Rank in State Literary Rally
Twelve students from Catholic High School ranked first through fifth place in the State Literary Rally held at Louisiana State University on April 19.
Ranking 1st place overall were Andrew Stewart in Advanced Math I and Maurice Theriot in computer science. Each will receive $300 if they attend Louisiana State University.
Placing second at the State Rally were Nathan Bush, Algebra II; David Stewart, biology; Michael Kelly, Latin II; Christopher Focht, English II; James Gilbert, World History; and Robert Brown, Spanish III.
Third place finishers were Andr_ Wiggins, business applications; and Jim Parks, calculus.
Finishing in fourth place was Ben Silverberg, Advanced Math II and fifth place finisher was Ray DeCuir, chemistry.
Students participating in the foreign languages portion of State Rally received superior and excellent ratings. Superior ratings receive $300 activity scholarships to LSU for their performances. Those students receiving superior rating and a $300 scholarship were CHS students Thomas Sparks and Bennett Caldwell.
Receiving excellent ratings were John Moore, Interpretive Reading – Spanish I; Casey Fitzgerald, Interpretive Reading – Spanish II; Tyler Ward, Interpretive Reading – Spanish III; Andrew Mire, Interpretive Reading – French II.
Members of the CHS/SJA Chorus participated in the music portion of State Rally and received superior ratings and $300 activity scholarships to LSU for their performances. Those students receiving superior rating and a $300 scholarship were CHS students Casey Fitzgerald and Scott Causey.
Receiving excellent ratings in Boys Quartet II at the State Rally were Carlo Gealogo, Jordan Krouse, Philip Vincent and Adrian Wintz.
