CHS Swim Team Hosts Alumni Meet and Social

More than 30 CHS swimming alumni joined the 2013 team for their inter-squad meet and enjoyed a social after at Catholic High School this past Saturday, August 17.

Each year, the CHS swim team begins their season with an inter-squad meet, and this year, CHS Head Swim Coach Doug Logsdon í´02 invited all swimming alumni to join in the competition, camaraderie and support. Ten alumni in attendance chose to swim competitively with the current team, and other alumni helped as time and stroke judges.

For the meet, which was held at the LSU Natatorium, the swimmers were divided into an orange team and a black team. The swimmers competed in 200 medley relay, 200 free, 100 IM, 50 free, 100 fly, 100 free, 100 back, 100 breast, and 200 free relay.

The alumni squad of Grant Grenfell í´12, Colin Finnegan í´12, Aaron Belanger í´13, and Braydon Bergeron í´12 won the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay.

Following the meet, the swimmers and alumni went back to the CHS where the alumni had a chance to take a tour of the school, and everyone enjoyed dinner and telling CHS swimming stories.

íÍI think it was invaluable to have alums back to support the CHS swim team,íñ said Logsdon. íÍThe current team talked to and learned from the alumni and got to see firsthand that it really is íîMore than 4í´ at CHS. Having some of the alumni swim and time for the current team was great, and we really appreciate their willingness to help and support the Catholic High swim program.íñ
