CHS Teacher Recognized as Outstanding Young Lawyer in the State of Louisiana
Catholic High School Business Law teacher Joe Mengis ’84 was recognized by the Louisiana State Bar Association Young Lawyers Section as the Outstanding Young Lawyer in the State of Louisiana for 2005. This award is presented annually to a Louisiana lawyer based on their exceptional contributions to the legal profession and the community. Nominees were considered for their service to the public, service to the legal profession, service to the Louisiana Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, awards and achievements received during their legal career, challenges the nominee may have overcome and the individual’s outstanding characteristics.
In addition to teaching at Catholic High, Mengis is a partner with Perry, Atkinson, Balhoff, Mengis and Burns, L.L.C. His service projects include Vision 21 Foundation and Manresa House of Retreats. Mengis was also recently appointed to the Louisiana State Bar Association Board of Governors and as a member of the board of directors at Manresa House of Retreats.
