CHS Tennis Team Finishes Second at State
The CHS tennis team competed hard against the best Division I teams in Louisiana and came up just one point short in winning a state championship. The Bears scored 11.5 points, second only to Jesuit’s 12.5, and finished as the Division I state runner-up.
Nick Watson won his second consecutive singles title, defeating Zachary’s Jot Sandhu 6-2, 6-1. Watson finished the season with a 15-0 singles record. The sophomore is now a perfect 30-0 for his career! Watson dominated his opponents, losing just four games all season. “Nick was dominant again on the court,” said head coach Kyle Jackson. “He improved his focus from freshman to sophomore year and became a more versatile performer, adjusting his game to the style of his opponent.”
“I could not have asked for more from our guys this season,” said Jackson. “They gave everything they had. I am proud of our seniors and the leadership they showed this year. Our younger guys are already looking forward to returning to state and winning it next year.”
