CHS Tennis Team Served Up Big Wins Over The Weekend
The Catholic High Tennis Team went 35-1 over the weekend, winning the McGill-Toolen Invitational in Mobile, AL. The tournament included high school teams from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Catholic High broke the tournament record with all six of its top players winning every match but one. The starting team in Mobile was anchored by nationally-ranked player, junior Nick Watson, and also included the following competitors that all play on the USTA southern tournament circuit – senior William Aguillard, senior Andrew Bienvenu, freshman Tripp Guglielmo, senior Stephen Bienvenu and sophomore Raymond Chassaignac. The B and C teams each won their consolation brackets over the weekend as well.
The team returned home and defeated last year’s Division III State Champion, University High, 5 to 0 (not dropping one match). The line up included the above players as well as freshman Davis Weston and sophomore Ethan Gettys.
The Bears hit the road again this weekend, as they compete in a national high school tournament in Chattanooga, TN.
