CHS Tennis Team Takes To The Road
The CHS tennis team is headed to Chattanooga, Tennessee, for the DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships. The Bears will compete against teams from across the nation on Friday, March 16, and Saturday, March 17. More than 50 schools representing 14 states will participate in the tournament, including archrival Jesuit of New Orleans.
Match play for the Bears begins Friday against John Burroughs of St. Louis, Missouri. The team finished in the top ten in last year’s DecoTurf.
The team is coming off a first place finish for the second consecutive year at the McGill-Toolen Invitational in Mobile, Alabama. The Bears are led by team captain Nick Watson, a University of South Carolina signee who is undefeated against Louisiana competition for four seasons.
Following Chattanooga, the Bears will hit the road again and travel to Newport Beach, California, to compete on the national stage. The National Invitational Boys High School Team Tennis Tournament is hosted by the Nation High School Tennis All-American Foundation and hosts teams all the way from Hawaii to New York. The National Invitational will conclude the Bears’ regular season tournament schedule before they shift gears to the post season, where they will host the regional tournament before traveling to the state tournament in Monroe, Louisiana.
